Artist

Born in 1954, State Laureate Artist of Mongolia, Chimeddorj was raised in Mongolian herds-family and obtained his education during the socialist regime in Mongolia. He is one of the very few artists in Mongolia of his generation, who constantly experiments with various media and techniques. Chimeddorj’s works include oil, ink and water color paintings and bronze and iron sculptures. Lately he has experimented with massive sculpture installations and video works. Artist Chimeddorj took part of some important international exhibitions, such as the 2nd Fukuoka Asian Art Triennial (2002), the 2nd and 3rd Beijing International Art Biennale (2005 and 2007), the 5th Ink Painting Biennial of Shenzhen (2006) and the 9th Shanghai Biennale (2012). His works were displayed in nations such as France, Korea, USA, Japan, Belgium, Luxemburg, China, Hong Kong, Holland and are part of permanent collections of eight museums in Europe as well in Korea and Mongolia.
