Mongolia opens its first historical pavilion in 56th International Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia 2015POSTED
One of the most important events in the art world La Biennale di Venezia 2015 is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year and opened its The 56th International Art Exhibition, including “All the World’s Futures”, curated by Okwui Enwezor presenting 136 artists; 89 National Pavilions, where Mongolia along with Grenada, Mauritius, Mozambico, Seychelles are participating first time and other 44 Collateral Events are taking place in various places around Venice.
The Mongolia pavilion held its official opening of exhibition OTHER HOME on May 7 in Venice, at historical Palazzo Mora, with the presence of Mayor of Ulaanbaatar City Mr. E.Bat-Uul, a major supporter of the project, S.Batbold, Member of Parliament, Ambassador of Mongolia in Rome and some other officials and sponsors. Opening of Mongolia Pavilion brought over 40 Mongolians to the City of Venice.
The Mongolia Pavilion presents Unen Enkh and Enkhbold Togmidshiirev, two artists who work with organic materials from Mongolian nomadic life and raise questions about global problems of cultural otherness and modern-day alienation from nature.
Mongolia’s first appearance at La Biennale di Venezia is initiated and organized by the Mongolian Contemporary Art Support Association (MCASA), chaired by Ms. Gantuya Badamgarav. Appointed as Commissioner by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science of Mongolia, Gantuya assembled the Mongolia Pavilion organizing team, which includes curator Dr. Uranchimeg Tsultemin, international adviser David A. Ross, and production adviser Dr. Boldbaatar Chultemin.
